North Sports currently offers Medium 17-inch and Large 19-inch frames with 27.5-inch wheels. Claud Butler recommends Medium for approximately 162–178cm (5ft 4in–5ft 10in) and Large for 178–188cm (5ft 10in–6ft 2in). These are guidance bands, not a substitute for checking physical fit.

Frame-height guidance is approximate. Check inside leg, standover, handlebar reach and confident access to the brake levers. Contact North Sports if you are between sizes.

The current North Sports listing indicates an estimated 3–5-day delivery period, but this is subject to confirmation of supplier stock for the selected frame size and postcode. For electric bikes fulfilled through Tandem Group Cycles’ direct e-bike service, the supplier assembles and checks the bike in its workshop before securely reboxing it for courier delivery. Minor final adjustments may still be required after delivery. Check all key controls, brakes, wheels and battery fitment before riding, and consult a competent bicycle mechanic if you are unsure.

We choose the Ridge 1.0 as a straightforward entry point into electric mountain biking. The removable battery, generous fork travel and wide tyres are useful on varied local routes, while the Shimano eight-speed gearing and mechanical discs keep the specification approachable.

Can I remove the battery for charging?

Yes. The integrated 375Wh battery can be unlocked and charged on or off the bike.

How far can the Ridge 1.0 travel on a charge?

Claud Butler quotes a maximum of up to 40 miles (64km). Actual range depends on riding conditions and the assistance level.

What is the difference between mechanical and hydraulic brakes?

This model uses cable-operated mechanical disc brakes. They are not the hydraulic Shimano MT200 brakes fitted to the Ridge 2.0.

Does it have walk assist?

Yes. The motor system includes walk assist to help when pushing the bike on foot.
