The Cateye AMPP 1700 is a powerful rechargeable front light built for demanding road rides, dark commutes and cycling where a strong forward beam matters. Its OptiCube lens spreads illumination across the riding line and provides excellent side visibility. The robust aluminium housing and supplied FlexTight handlebar bracket create a practical setup for regular evening use.
Six lighting modes cover everything from maximum illumination to extended visibility. Double-click the power button for 1700-lumen Ultra Boost, which lasts approximately 1.25 hours. High provides 1300 lumens for about 1.75 hours, Middle gives 700 lumens for 3 hours and Low offers 400 lumens for 5 hours. Daytime HyperConstant runs for around 4 hours, while Flashing can reach 60 hours. A three-colour battery indicator, mode memory and transport lock add convenience.
The built-in 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery charges via USB-C in approximately 4 hours with a suitable 2 A supply; the USB-C cable is not included. The light weighs roughly 213.5 g and carries an IPX4 water-resistance rating. Cateye supplies it in Lock mode: hold the power button for eight seconds to unlock it before first use.
