The Cateye SYNC Core 500 is a rechargeable front cycle light that also acts as the main controller for the CatEyeSYNC wireless lighting range. On its own, it provides a broad 500-lumen beam through OptiCube optics, with excellent side visibility for road commutes and recreational riding. When paired with compatible SYNC rear and wearable lights, one button can turn the linked lighting system on or off together.
The CatEyeSYNC smartphone app is used to pair devices, configure lighting modes, check battery levels and control up to seven compatible lights as a group. Compatible additions include SYNC Kinetic and SYNC Wearable; ordinary non-SYNC Cateye lights do not gain wireless pairing just by using this front light. Five modes let you balance brightness and runtime: 500-lumen High for approximately two hours, 150-lumen Middle for nine hours and 100-lumen Low for 15 hours, plus Daytime HyperConstant and Flashing modes.
The SYNC Core has a rechargeable 3.6 V, 2200 mAh lithium-ion battery, Micro-USB charging and a manufacturer-stated charging time of approximately three to six hours. It weighs about 94 g, includes a FlexTight handlebar bracket and is IPX4 splash-resistant. Check the current CatEyeSYNC app phone compatibility list before purchasing, particularly if you intend to link several lights.
