The Cateye AMPP 500 is a 500-lumen rechargeable front bicycle light for riders wanting stronger illumination on commutes, cycle paths and evening training rides. Its OptiCube lens produces a broad, useful beam, while the prominent side-facing light improves visibility when approaching junctions and crossing points. The compact, robust body is held securely by Cateye’s adjustable FlexTight bracket.
Four lighting modes allow you to adapt the output to the route and battery level. High supplies 500 lumens for approximately 1.5 hours, Low gives 250 lumens for about 3 hours, Daytime HyperConstant lasts around 5 hours and Flashing can run for up to 50 hours. The button illuminates red when charge drops below around 20%, and mode memory restores your previous setting. A double press selects High for quick access to maximum brightness.
The integrated 2200 mAh lithium-ion battery charges through Micro-USB, and the manufacturer rates the unit IPX4 for wet-weather use. It weighs approximately 117 g and can be detached easily from the FlexTight fitting. The AMPP 500 is the original 500-lumen model; its charging connection and specifications should not be confused with the later AMPP 500S.
